The Museum
This elegant Georgian house which stands adjacent to Workington Hall is a grade 2* listed building and was bequeathed to the people of Workington and district for use as a museum by the late Helena Thompson.
Originally in the care of the local authority, it is now managed by a local charitable organisation, the Workington Heritage Group Ltd.
The museum reflects the history, industry, culture and social life of the area and has become a focal point for many organisations and hobby groups.
More than just a museum, the Helena Thompson, as it is fondly known to its users, is now home to a wide variety of interests and activities as well as staging weddings, children’s days and concerts.
