Community Venue

The Helena Thompson is not only an accredited museum but also a popular community venue, offering a number of affordable facilities from children’s days to weddings for the people of West Cumbria. Please see our Rooms and Facilities page for a list of what we have to offer.

If your planned event is not listed then do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your requirements.

Limited financial support is received from Allerdale Borough Council and the majority of our running costs have to be achieved through events, grants and donations in order that we can be as self-sufficient as possible to continue operating the Helena Thompson.

We had a wonderful time at today’s Easter event, friendly people and great activities that kept the kids entertained, this was the second event I have been to and my daughter loved both of them and can’t wait to visit again soon, thanks for a great afternoon!
